Heating

Your home is probably the most important place to you, and the most valuable asset that you will ever own.  It's important therefore to make sure it is one of the most comfortable places too as you will undoubtably spend a lot of time in it.

It's important therefore that your home is comfortable, and that when the weather turns colder or you have those chilly evenings that can catch you unaware, you can turn to your heating system to make your home a warmer place at the flick of a switch.

Boilers
Although many homes now benefit from a combi boiler which heats hot water on demand as well as taking care of the central heating for your home, many people still choose to heat their water separately.

Regular maintenance of your boiler whether it is gas or electric is important, as problems can occur if they have built up sediment inside them over time.  If you are living in a hard-water area then just think of what happens with your kettle, then think of what could be going on in your boiler! It's always recommended that you have your boiler serviced annually and the system flushed periodically to remove all types of build-up and the addition of chemicals to your heating system will without doubt extend the life of your boiler and improve its efficiently saving you money both now and in the future.

If you are thinking about fitting a new boiler, where it is going to be located in your home? Make sure that the hot water does not have to travel long distances before it reaches your tap, otherwise you could waste a lot of water and that will cost you money, especially if you are on a water meter!

Radiators
It's important to have a warm cosy home and a radiator is the way to transfer that heat to your rooms, but it's important that you get the right amount of heat and be able to adjust the temperature to your requirements quite independently of another room in your house.

When people think about radiators they generally think about the standard white radiators that go under windows, but today radiators come in all shapes and colours and can be used to create a feature to the room adding both warmth, colour and an architectural affect.

The options for radiators are countless today, so don't just think white and underneath a window, explore all of the options you have available today.

Under Floor Heating
If radiators really are not your thing, or space and furniture requirements become restricted due to positions of radiators you may wish to consider under floor heating.  You can run underfloor heating from your existing boiler or install a stand-alone electric system - both of these are readily available and are becoming ever more popular.  Under floor heating uses the whole floor area to radiate heat giving am even temperature across the whole room.

In kitchen and bathroom areas where people often have tiled floor under floor heating can remove that chilled floor and give an added cosiness to the room.
